I LOVED LOVED LOVED this new show of Vir Das, watched 2 times back to back. He pictured an India that he deeply cherishes and loves, an India that is full of stories and full of love, an India that is respectful and adorable, especially for an outsider.
He touched a lot of social topics with his own view, I salute to his openness and forward thinking.
And some of his jokes are so subtle that the mocking actually lies in the communication with the audience. You wouldn't even realize he is mocking the backward thinking that hides in you, mocking the system that you are too used to.
A MUST watch.
好几周了终于有一点心情看一眼电视。选了脱口秀，Vir Das 是我最喜欢的印度standup comedian 之一 (可能因为他说英语，说其他语言的get不到笑话)。这次录的真的好有深度，从天文地理历史政治人文等等角度，以幽默和充满想象的语言展现出属于他自己的对印度的理解。讲实话很大一部分的笑话还是get不到，因为对很多事件和人名书名不了解。感觉能把脱口秀搞得这么深刻，这背后的研究和阅读绝对是海量的。RESPECT
后记: 连着又看了一遍，也理解到了更多，一边还查了自己之前不熟悉的地名和历史事件。第二遍看充满了感动，Vir Das 在不经意间把他对印度的理解，包括印度的宗教复杂性，印度的被殖民史，印度各界的领导人，印度的恐怖袭击和宗教矛盾，印度青年力量，印度的女权平权同xing 恋yundong等，种种微妙但复杂的话题，以自己的角度表达出来。观点前卫开放，充满大爱。在点滴间表达了自己对印度的热爱和眷恋。
不得不说，在有言论自由的地方，才能看到真正意义上的，有档次的脱口秀。
