我們家經歷的奧米克戎

之前怕公開了爸媽回國有影響，現在情況都這樣了應該也沒多大關係了 -- 那就是我們家一月底也得了奧米克戎，這是我們第一次得武漢肺炎，在所有（輝瑞/莫德納）疫苗都打完的前提下。

搞笑的是，只有我和兩娃陽性，印度老公和爸媽怎麼測都是陰性。

我一直以為只是感冒，最開始喉嚨痛，流涕，頭暈，四五天後，孩子們出現症狀才去檢測出了陽性。希娃喉嚨痛了一天就沒症狀了，妹妹也喉嚨痛，外加發了幾個小時燒，一天內也沒症狀了。我頭暈感冒的感覺持續了大約兩周，但除此之外沒有發燒，味覺嗅覺也都正常。

孩子們是在週一到校之後沒多久出現症狀，學校立即通知讓家長接回家，為了他們盡快返校我們週一下午去學區指定地點做了快速檢測。本來以為絕對不是武漢肺炎，因為我上週因為感冒剛剛做了 PCR 測試，結果是陰性。沒想到快速檢測結果出來，兩個孩子都是陽性。我也再做了 PCR 測試，幾天後結果也是陽性。

這幾年下來我們所做的所有檢測，全部都是免費的，有時一周做好幾次。

我們在家隔離了一週，所有下午的其他課程也自行取消，三個人在家裡玩了一整個星期。家裡有測試盒，週五做了測試還是陽性，週日再測就轉陰了。把家裡的測試結果拍個照片發到學區護士的郵箱，週日當晚就得到回復說週一可以返還學校上課。

學區從2021年4月恢復在校上課以來，訂製了一套非常精細的應對流程。包括教室內新置的空氣淨化器，新設的隔離板，新畫的單行路線，上廁所吃午餐的新規則等等。對於出現症狀、感染了普通流感以及確診武漢肺炎陽性的孩子與其兄弟姊妹如何進行居家隔離，如何結束隔離回來學校都有詳細規定。

但這些規定裡，從來沒有一項是強制檢測在校學員，也絕對不會強制家長提交檢測報告。所有檢測都是家長自願去做的，結果出來通知不通知給學校，那都是家長的自由。出現症狀的孩子被送回家隔離後，如果想提早回校，可以提交陰性檢測報告，學區護士同意就可以回來。不然最多居家十天後也可以自動回來。

因為學區及時設計了非常精細的應對流程，也因為學區手裡有學生接種疫苗的數據（我們學區82% 極高），還因為學生和家長都能非常配合新規，像思想成熟的正常社會人遵守共同制定的法律一樣，所以學區在奧米克戎席捲之際，在堂課程照常運行，有條不紊。

一月至二月最嚴重的時候，孩子們輪著在家隔離，每個班同時5到10個缺堂，最多的時候一個班25個孩子一半沒來。似乎每家都輪著得了一回奧米克戎，自行在家隔離一週。但最嚴重也不過如此，從沒聽說哪家人出現重症。

不知不覺，一月二月過去，在大約二月中/底的時候，突然校園裡滿了起來，孩子們陸續都回來了，各班級基本都滿員。

再來就是三月了，奧米克戎這一波算是過去了，群体免疫建立，80%的家庭都得過了。傳染性極強，但比流感還輕的流行病。搞笑的是，每家都是幾個成員呈陽性，幾個成員怎麼測都是陰性。於是我們這裡基本可以宣布徹底走出武漢肺炎，口罩令也都逐一取消，我們家孩子現在上所有室內室外課都不戴口罩了。

Omicron explosion... both my children's classes had an Individual with positive test results after being in the class.... on Wednesday I was there with the TK kids, 18 of them, from 8:30 to 11:50! 

Looks like there's no stop on the new variant, we are all gonna have it once at least. In fact, I already know so many of our friends had it, just like a cold and got done with.... 

So lucky that we are all fully vaccinated right in time to face the Omicron.... 

Omicron 爆發，倆孩子班上都有檢測呈阳性的個人，但學校繼續開課。如果孩子打了兩針疫苗就可照常去學校，建議做檢測但不要求。

Omicron 根本擋不住，非常瘋狂地猛烈爆發。其實已經有非常多朋友得了，像小感冒一樣沒啥感覺就過去了，因為大家都及時打了加強針。

感覺很幸運，之前一輪的疫苗剛好來應對變異株。

Took my daughter to get a PCR test, both of us did, I as staff, 1:30pm only 15 min wait, 10 people ahead of us. 

Took my son for the test, 4:30 to 5:15pm wait, long long line.... felt like each grade had some kids coming for test. 

The horse riding coach said all of her students (all ages) received notice that "they are exposed in school"... What can we do now? Classes as usual... 

Since none of us felt any symptoms, still going to school tomorrow.... Feels like now this is the new normal: Omicron as cold....😅😅 

接到陽性接觸風險通知後，帶女兒去學區專設點做PCR。已來過無數次了，每次都沒啥人，全家老小一起檢測。這幾天因為學校感染多，和女兒在1點半時排了15分鐘隊，和兒子在4點半時排了45分鐘隊。現在只允許教職人員和學生檢測，我以教師身份也做了。結果一般24小時拿得到。

因為我們都無症狀，明天繼續上學。騎馬課教練說她所有的孩子，不同年齡段的都有，都接到了通知說班裡有陽性。能怎麼辦呢？繼續上課啊! 

看起來在 Omicron 來襲的新世界裡，把肺炎當成感冒，和肺炎共存已經成為了新的事實。

A little less than half students showed up in my daughter's TK class, the same as my son's 1st grade. As I walked past all the classrooms, same everywhere, around half students remained. My daughter's teacher told me all the teachers she knew told her that there were positive cases in their classes. And we are so lucky to be living in a community where the vaccination rate is so high that schools can remain open. 

For the half students who decided to quarantine, some of them are trying to vaccinate fully, a lot of them can't come because there are babies less than 5 years old in the household who couldn't get vaccinations yet. 

I was asking around in the school office if the district had plans to close the schools? Not that anyone knew, but most people I met were looking forward to continuing the school year in person. 

One staff told me since the student testing center is for free, get the kids tested as often as possible to stay on top of it. For instance, her kids get tested every Friday. Very good suggestion indeed!  

[Later my son told me he heard one staff telling the students there were 160+ kids absent today at school, that's around 25% of all the students...] 

今早女兒班裡略少於半數孩子到堂，兒子班級亦是。路過各年級時瞄了一眼，都只有一半孩子。女兒老師說她認識的所有老師都說自己班裡有陽性。

很多孩子不來校，有因為疫苗沒打完的，有的家裡有小於五歲的寶寶目前沒有適合的疫苗。老師感嘆我們太幸運了，生活在疫苗率極高的社區，所以學校能保持開放。

在辦公室裡問工作人員，學區是否會停課？沒人知道。大多數遇到的老師都希望不要改成在線的，課就這麼上下去。

有個工作人員告訴我說，既然學區指定的PCR檢測點都是免費的，每週都去檢測一次，她自己的孩子每週五去做一個PCR檢測。這個建議不錯哈 😁

On-site testing sounds great! The School district started this service in August 2021, never used it... Basically, if you sign your kid up, staff will come to the classroom and take the kid to a mobile testing site inside the campus, then send the kido back to the classroom. It's a PCR test, the result will be sent within 24-72 hours. I think it's every other week on Monday. From now I'm gonna sign my kids up whenever they are doing the test... 

校園內流動檢測點每兩週的週一有為孩子和老師做 PCR 檢測。其實這項服務從2021年8月就開始了，我們從沒用過。。如果你想，網上填個資料，週一時就會有人員去教室把孩子帶到臨時檢測點，刮完鼻子又送回教室。結果24-72小時發到父母郵箱。看起來從現在開始我每次都要讓他們在校園裡直接測了，省媽咪一點麻煩 🤣

🙏 Pray for India. This new wave is horrible, a lot of people got sick and are in danger. I still remember last year this time, I was so sad because I saw in Chinese social media, so many people were cheering and celebrating the suffering around the globe. I was in distress and heartbroken, remembering how when I was in high school, the teachers and students cheered and celebrated for the dreadful event of 911 in America. We were just kids, and I was so puzzled by how much zest the teachers had, big smiles on their faces as if they saw happiness, drawing with chalks on the blackboard, describing to us how the towers went down by planes and why it was such a happy event for them and their country. I Will Never Forget That. 

Same thing for COVID, in my Chinese social media account, regularly I received comments celebrating the death toll in America and India. As how much heartbroken I was, I was still fighting, I kept reminding people we were all the same, people were just people, we should not be divided by nations, races and cultures. I was taking my heart out, telling people, please please please show some respect. No matter what nationalities we have, what skin colors we have, we are all the same, I have family in India as well as in America, I love them all. As responses, I regularly received comments cursing my whole family to get covid and disappear. 

I am definitely not saying all Chinese are like this, but I completely agree with 狗哥, if the kind-hearted (majority?) Chinese are All in Silence, either they are in fear of speaking up or their voices are suppressed so nobody can hear -- the loud voices that we can hear, are representing you all. And if those loud voices are evil, that means your country looks evil. 

What a nightmare. I am just so happy that I had tried my best and got out, so I will never have to see anything like that anymore. What a relief, fuck ya!

Tragedy In Covid India - Desperate Migrant Workers Walk Without Food And Shelter For Days

Only 4 hours of notice, then a complete lockdown of the whole nation, due to the fear of Coronavirus spread. Millions of migrant workers were left stranded, homeless, and scared. Without day-to-day income, they can’t afford livings in cities. With all the transportation like trains and buses being completely shut down, they have to walk for hundreds, even thousands of kilometers to go back to their home states: Jharkhand, Bihar, UP and some others - the “backward” and extremely poor states. Many walk with their young children, many walk for days without any food.

These migrant workers go to other comparably richer states to seek better job opportunities, most of them work as maidservants, drivers, laundry wala, delivery wala and security guards etc. They barely earn enough to survive, barely have a voice in society. With the inadequately planned lockdown in place, they take a direct hit and it is such a tragedy in modern time India. It shows how brutal and disregard the Indian administration is toward the lower strata of society.

More facts to know:

1. Police brutality and misdemeanors is a scar not yet healed from colonial times under the British rule. The policing system was a centralized structure built by the British colonists to rule over Indian citizens, suppress resistance, and facilitate exploitation. It only answered to the up and suppressed the down. More than 70 years after independence, redesign of the structure, and reform in the police force is hardly satisfying. The policing system stays largely the same in modern time India - answering to the up while suppressing the down.

2. Bihar, Jharkhand, UP, West Bengal these “poor and backward” states were the center of British colonization, thus the most exploited and most disrupted. Bihar and Jharkhand (was combined as Bihar) was rich in coal mines, thus a curse to be the free supply of endless coal mines to the British authority. The uncountable robbery of wealth in natural resources is one thing, the unregulated excavations without any regard for the local ecosystem and sustainability have an even longer and deeper impact on the colonized land. No need to mention complete destruction on the social and economic structure that left the land in chaos and despair. And it surely takes an unimaginably long time to rebuild and reflourish. That’s one of the reasons why there are still huge economic gaps among different states in India today, especially the East Indian states, where was the center of colonization, to the other parts of India.
